Populism Power before people

Populism Power before people:
What does it mean to stand with everyday people? For most Americans, that idea is called populism, whether you’re Republican, Independent, or Democrat. American populism is the belief that our democracy and economy should work for all working families—not just billionaires, giant corporations, or powerful special interests. For decades, many Americans have felt that the wealthy and well-connected have too much influence over our politics. When corporations can spend enormous amounts of money to shape policies, ordinary voices can be drowned out. Today’s populists argue that our current president and government leaders are not protecting workers, or making healthcare and education more affordable, they’re not ensuring fair wages, or holding powerful corporations accountable. Their goal is simple: a country where opportunity is available to everyone, not just reserved for the rich or powerful. At its core, populism asks a simple question: Who does our government serve—the few at the top, or all of us?” “Democracy is strongest when every voice has value.” If you would like to support our video messages, please go to swdems.club/donate
